Today was the first family reunion of the decendants of Roy and Sophie in almost fifty years! It was a beautiful day in Holmen, Wisconsin and a great time was had by all. Nearly 100 family members and spouses attended. I've added a slide show of the pictures that I have so far. I'll add more as people E-Mail them to me. (If you click on the pictures, you can view the web album. From there you can see the pictures better or download them so you can save or print them.)
If you took some pictures at the picnic and would like to share them, please E-Mail them to me: PaulPendleton@Comcast.net.
And, for those of you who took the questionaires for the family tree home, please complete them and return them to me as soon as you can - before you forget. (I know who you are...) If you didn't get a chance to look at "the book" to verify the information I have, but would like to do so now, just E-Mail or call me and I will send the info I have to you.
As always, I am constantly trying to keep the family tree up to date, so if there are any births or marriages or (hopefully not) any deaths or divorces in your family, PLEASE let me know so I can record them. I am also looking for volunteers to help collect information from their families. If you are interested, let me know.
On a personal note, I'd like to pass along a sincere "Thank You" to Pam [Roberts] Heath (15) and her mother, Peggy [Pendleton] Roberts (14), for all their efforts in putting this picnic together. GOOD JOB!!!! Please join me in expressing your gratitude by leaving a comment to this post...

2009 Family Picnic
There WILL be a family picnic this summer thanks to all the efforts of Pam Heath.
Here is an excerpt from the E-Mail Pam sent me:
“…two years ago I approached my mother and my aunts to start a family reunion. We all get busy in our lives and I thought it would be a nice way to keep in touch. I thought it went well the past two years and would like to expand it and invite some more relatives to join us. So, I have reserved a shelter, and would like to extend the invitation out to the Pendleton relatives.
The shelter I reserved is at the Holland Town Hall, shelter 2. The date is Sunday, August 2nd, 2009. Take hwy 53 north from La Crosse, about 10 miles, take the McHugh Road exit (county MH.) At the stop sign, turn left, go about 1 mile to the town hall on the left, turn in the second driveway just past the shelter house.
Time is 10:00 am to about 3 or 4 pm.
They have slides and swings for the kids, and horse shoe pits, for those who wish to play and flushable toilets!!!!!!!!!!
THINGS TO BRING: your own meat to grill, drinks, and table service, and a dish to pass, and lawn chairs.
I will have grills there for anyone to use. Hopefully we will have a nice sunny day…
…I am also looking for a picture of my grandpa, Edward Pendleton (13), with his brothers and sisters at any age if someone could send me a copy.”
Please spread the word about the picnic to your families. Let’s try to make this a success. Also, please bring any pictures that you would like to share.
If you have any questions, or would like to forward some family pictures, please feel free to contact me at PaulPendleton@comcast.net.
Pam [Roberts] Heath (15) is the daughter of Peggy [Pendleton] Roberts (14) who is the daughter of Edward Pendleton (13).

Sick Call - Kathy [Ryan] Meyer
Kathy [Ryan] Meyer (2) had her knee replaced on April 6th. Her daughter, Melissa, sent me this update:
"Mom had her right knee replaced and there were no complications during the surgery. This is the same leg that Mom broke her ankle a few years ago. Following the surgery Mom's lymphedema began to act up and her right leg is extremely swollen. Partly because of this complication, Mom was unable to come straight home from the hospital. She has been in a nursing home in Greendale since her release from the hospital. She is doing well with rehab. Once she is up she is able to walk, but at this point she is not able to get her right leg in and out of the bed without assistance. Her therapy is coming along though, and as you all know my mom is one tough cookie and doesn't stop once she has her mind set on something!
She just changed rooms, so for those of you who had her direct line that number has now changed. Here is the contact information for her. I'm sure she'd love to hear from anyone who wants to chat!
Heritage Square

Greendale, WI 53219
Room 112
Phone: 414-421-1927 (direct to her room) "
I spoke with Kathy last night and it looks like she might be at the rehab facility until May 6th. If you have a chance, give her a call or drop her a card. She will not have access to her E-Mail until she gets home.

Family Picnic????
Is anyone interested in having a family reunion/picnic this summer? Several cousins have contacted me about doing this. Everything is in the VERY initial planning phase. Right now, the concensus is something very informal for late summer and probably in the La Crosse area.
If you would be interested in attending, post a comment. Let everybody know WHEN would be good for you and WHERE you would like it to be.
This could be fun!!!
