Happy Birthday, Tim

 

Tim Ryan was the guest of honor at a surprise 70th birthday party hosted by his children on Saturday, 19, Sep 2015 at Muir Park in Bloomington, MN. (His birthday is actually on the 18th,)

Tim's wife, Betty, all of his siblings and many other friends and relatives showed up to help Tim celebrate his day.

A special thanks goes out to Tim's daughter, Patty. for organizing the party!

I just realized that I had not posted the Memorials and Birthdays for September. I updated and posted them tonight. I also updated and posted the Memorials and Birthdays for October, so I am FINALLY current!!!!

I just got back (on the 15^th) from 2 ½ weeks in Europe. I spent 4 days in London, then 8 days in Rome then went back to London for 3 days. It was a wonderful trip although I did NO genealogical research. As far as I’ve found, to date, neither Roy nor Sophia had any ancestors in Italy.

I believe Brian Pendleton (1599 – 1681) who was originally from the Manchester, Lancashire area lived in London for some time as his son, James, (Roy’s 5^th Great-Grandfather,) was born there in about 1627, but I believe James was born while Brian and his wife, Eleanor Price, were in the process of emigrating from England to America. I still have not found the exact date Brian and his family moved to the colonies in America, but they all died in America. One of my next trips to the UK will be to Manchester to try to fill in some more missing info!

Anyway, I just had to post a couple pictures. One is obviously Tower Bridge in London and the other is the Roman Forum. I just have to keep reminding myself how lucky I am to be have been able to have seen all the things I’ve seen!

Congratulations Melissa & Eric Kingery

 Melissa Meyer and Eric Kingery were married on August 22, 2015 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in a ceremony at St Anne's Catholic Church.

Melissa (3) is the daughter of Kathleen [Ryan] (2) and Ed Meyer. Kathleen is the daughter of Mary [Pendleton] Ryan (1).

Their reception was held at the Women's Club in Kenosha where many friends and relatives joined them for a nice meal and a wonderful evening.

The bride and groom will live in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Let’s all wish them the best of luck in their new life together!

RIP - Ed Meyer

My apologies for the delay in posting this! My computer crashed and I just finished restoring everything last Saturday....

Kathy Meyer's husband, Ed, passed away on 23 Jun 2015 just two days after his 79th birthday.

Ed was a caring husband to Kathy and a loving father to his children: Steve (Katie), Tom, Lori (Rob) Larson, Cindy and Melissa.

He is survived by Kathy, all of his children and grandchildren: Alyssa (Steve & Katie,) Shelbie (Tom,) Michael & Emily (Lori and Rob,) Tabitha and daughter Arabella and Aaron (Cindy.)

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St Anne's Catholic Church at noon on 27, June 2015 and was followed by full military honors.

Kathy has said that she will be giving a part of the memorials to help establish a kidney dialysis clinic in Kenosha, The doctor who helped Ed will be creating an endowment in Ed's name. Please contact Kathy for more information on making a donation to the endowment.

I hope you will all take a moment to honor his memory.

2015 Family Picnic

Phil Rosson organized a great game of waterslide kickball. The kids had a blast. The bases were pools and there were tarps for the runners to slide on. If you were in a pool, you were "safe". My car thermometer read 95 when I left. That could explain why so many of the kids didn't want to run to the next base.

And lastly, just a crowd shot. Good food, good company and a really great time seeing relatives.

Imagine... Here it is, May 30th, and I actually remembered to post June's Memorials and Birthdays BEFORE the 1st of the month!

It's been a while since I did a post and I have nothing better to do tonight... So, we are about to start another summer season. In Minneapolis, we are still waiting for some real warmth. Granted, it's been in the 80's twice so far and in the 70's a bit, but it seems like we are stuck in the 60's with rain, rain, rain. Is this going to be another summer like last year? We only made it above 90 twice last year.

Once again, I have NO major projects planned for the summer. I have some repairs and maintenance to do here and there, but nothing major and definitely nothing NEW. I am trying my experiment with growing veggies around my front yard again this year. I got quite a few tomatoes last year, but then it cooled down in late August and I had dozens and dozens of tomatoes that just would not ripen.

My partner, Jon, turns 65 on the 16th of June and is retiring on the 19th. He's been with the same company for over 35 years and he has finally decided to call it quits. I am throwing a Birthday/Retirement party for him on the 11th of July. All are welcome. Drop me an E-Mail for the specs.

If you follow me on Face Book, you may have caught my post about my last dental visit. I have been fighting periodontal disease for years and my dentist and I have decided that 4 more teeth need to come out. Now comes the process of trying to stimulate some new bone growth in my lower jaw so I can do implants. It may take up to 6 months to be able to determine if there is enough growth to support the implants, so, pretty much everything that I love to eat... salads, fresh veggies, nuts... is off my menu until after the first of next year. [Just so you don't think I'm some kind of health freak, another of my favorites, Potato Chips, is also gone...]

But, on the upside, I am going to Europe again this fall. It's been over 8 years since I've been there; FAR too long. I will be in London for 3 days and then in Rome for 8 days and then back to London for 4 more days. While we are in Rome, I'm really looking forward to seeing the Vatican, the Roman Forum and we will probably take a day trip to Pompeii. In London, Jon and I both want to see the Imperial War Museum and we will probably take a day trip to Windsor Castle. But, for me, the thing I am looking MOST forward to is going to Hyde Park for the Last Night of the Proms. They set up a huge television screen and do a live broadcast from the Royal Albert Hall... I would LOVE to be able to attend it in the Royal Albert Hall, but tickets are in such demand that there is a lottery for seating. I've never been lucky in lotteries, so why set myself up for disappointment? Hyde Park is beautiful and, unless it rains, will be just as nice. (The Proms is a two month series of concerts - mainly classical. The Last Night is when they "let their hair down" and just have fun - Google it and you'll get an idea of what it is like.)

Well, I seem to have missed another month... My apologies to everyone who celebrated their birthdays in March. Everything should be up to date now.

I would like to take a moment to point out the relatives we lost in the month of March: Grandpa Roy Pendleton, Jules Hanna, Merle Pendleton and Grandpa Roy's father, Beeley Blanchford Pendleton. Please take a second to look over the March Memorials (and the rest of the Memorials, while you're at it!) and fondly remember those we've lost. They all played a part in who we are now.

If you have any stories or special memories about any of our relatives that you would like to share, please feel free to send them on to me. A lot of what I have compiled about the family tree is just facts and figures. It would be nice to add a "human" aspect to their records.
