As I reported last month, we lost Aunt Mary Ryan at the age of 103 years, 5 months and 21 days. We are saddened at her passing, but, we should celebrate that she had such a long and wonderful life. As I’ve said many times in the past on this blog when describing members of our collective family, she was a truly remarkable woman.
So, for those of us who are descendants of Roy and Sophie,
this leaves Aunt Gert [Fontish] Pendleton, spouse of Arnie (1), as the last of
Generation 1. Aunt Gert just happens to turn 91 on the 30th of
August. And, of course, Pat [Niles ]
Hanna (2) would have my hide if I didn’t mention that SHE is now the
“matriarch.”
Just a reminder… Pam Heath [3] is hosting the family picnic
again this year on Sunday, 5, August. The location is the same as previous
years: The Town of Holland Park on McHugh
Road just west of Holmen , WI .
The time is from 10 AM to 3 PM (we’ve always run a little later that that.) Pam
does a SUPER job of planning this and has had plenty of food in the past, but
feel free to bring something to pass.
There will be games and activities for the kids. It’s a great chance to
catch up with long-lost family. Spread the news!
As for me… I’ve been working on what seems to be an endless
list of projects in my yard. I have finished a new 12’ X 16’ “fire pit” area
with pavers and a retaining wall. I also put in pavers in an area behind my
garage; leveled my back yard, reseeded, put in an in-ground sprinkler system
and am currently working on a waterfall feature.
So many projects, so little time!
I’m looking forward to finishing the outside projects so I can get back to my other passions: Cooking and Genealogy!
