I am very confident I have found the father of Thomas Pendleton (1). His name was Henry Pendleton and he was born in the Manchester, Lancashire area (probably Eccles or Salford) of England about 1474. I found his name on the LDS (Mormon) genealogy site a few weeks ago. According to the information on that site, one of his sons was named Thomas who was married to a Margerie. One of Thomas’ sons was named Edward who was married to Ann Newton. Thomas, Margerie, Edward and Ann Newton all match my records.
There is so much bad genealogical information on the internet that I didn’t feel comfortable announcing this until I found at least 2 other sources verifying the link, which I did.
Henry had several children other than our Thomas. I am in the process of verifying them. I am reasonably sure that he had a son named George, another son named Francis and at least one daughter, Elizabeth. Again, I won’t add these people to the tree until I can verify them.
At this point, I haven’t found any information about who Henry’s parents might have been, but, who knows, eventually, I may find his parents.
Because I’m working backward, all of the generation numbers might keep changing. To make it easy on ME (and that’s the important part!) I am now going to CHANGE my generation numbering system to the relationship to Roy and Sophie Pendleton. In other words, Roy and Sophie will now be Generation 0. Their children will be Generation 1. Their grandchildren will be Generation 2 etc…
Direct ancestors BEFORE Roy and Sophie will now be numbered with a negative number. Roy’s father, Beeley, will now be designated as Beeley Pendleton [-1]. Roy’s grandfather, John, will now be designated as John Pendleton [-2] etc… Sophie's father, Karl, will now be designated as Karl Hanifl (-1). Karl's parents will now be Andreas Hanifl (-2) and Rosalia Schaub (-2).
Click on "Genealogy" under "Categories" on the left side of this page to see a listing of all previous generations.
Oh, and by the way... It may take me a bit to update everything, so bear with me!
